The qualifying rounds for the South High School and South Central divisions are over.
The 79th National Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship held at the Glory Sports Center in Glory, Jeollanam-do on Monday concluded with the final game of Group H between Yeosu Hwayang High School and 안전놀이터 Gimhae Gaya High School.
The men’s high school division had 29 teams, the most among the nine divisions, and was organized into eight groups, with the first and second place finishers in each group advancing to the finals. Gyeongbok Go (Group A), Hwamun Go (Group B), Songdo Go (Group C), Samil Go (Group D), Yongsan Go (Group F), Hongdae Boo Go (Group G), Gwangshin Bangyeo Go (Group H), and Gwangju Go (Group H) all qualified with straight wins.
After the preliminary rounds, the draw for the finals was made, and the South High School finals will begin with a matchup between Gyeongbok Go, the reigning “Season 2 Champion,” and Bae Jae Go (Kookmin Sports Center) at 2 p.m. on the 30th, followed by the final at 1 p.m. on the 3rd at the Sportium Kookmin Sports Center.
The South Central Division also concluded its qualifying schedule on Monday, with Lim Ho-joong and Samsunjung in Group E, Jeju Dongjung and Seongnamjung in Group F, Hongdae Bujung and Bae Jae-joong in Group G, and Cheonan Sungseongjung and Samiljung in Group H. The final rounds will be held on Wednesday.
In the 29-team South Central Division, the round of 16 finals tournament will begin at 9:30 a.m. on the 30th with the match between Hongik University and Yongsan Middle School (Auxiliary Gymnasium). The South Central final will be played at 10 a.m. on the 2nd at the Kookmin Sports Center.
