The Baltimore Orioles, the American League East’s top-ranked team, are atop the MLB.com Power Rankings for the first time.

MLB.com released its weekly power rankings on Thursday. Last week’s No. 1 Los Angeles Dodgers dropped to No. 3. In their place is the American League East-leading Baltimore Orioles.

The Orioles were No. 2 last week. “For the first time in the history of the MLB.com Power Rankings, the Orioles are ranked No. 1,” MLB.com said.

“Remember how excited everyone was when the Orioles won 101 games last year, the first time they’ve won that many since 1979,” MLB.com said, adding, “The Orioles were on pace for 108 wins even with Sunday’s loss (13-2 at Arizona, 9-2). That would be the second-most wins in franchise history.”
