Ukraine says it has successfully attacked a Russian warship in the Black Sea using a maritime drone.
According to CNN on Thursday, a Ukrainian intelligence source claimed that a maritime drone carrying 450 kilograms of TNT attacked a Russian warship and that the ship had about 100 Russian soldiers on board.
“A large naval vessel, the Olenegorsky Gornyak, was attacked,” the source said, adding that “as a result of the attack, the Russian ship suffered serious damage and became unable to fulfill its mission.”
Earlier, Russia said its warships intercepted two Ukrainian maritime drones near the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk on March 3, though it said there was no material damage or casualties from the Ukrainian attack.
In response, Ukraine released a 36-second video showing the maritime drones successfully hitting their targets.
The video shows the unmanned boat reaching a vessel whose silhouette is identical to the Russian ship “Olenegorsky Gornyak” before losing contact.
Clashes between the two countries have been escalating in the Black Sea and nearby ports since Russia last month announced the end of the Black Sea Grain Agreement, 먹튀검증 which paved the way for Ukrainian grain exports.
