Alicia Baumgardner (29-USA), the unified champion of all four women’s professional boxing organisations at super featherweight, has tested positive for a banned substance The Associated Press reported on Sunday (17 July) that Baumgardner’s random drug test ahead of her bout with Cristina Linardatu (35-Dominican Republic) last month detected a banned substance, prompting her to undergo further testing .Baumgardner’s sample allegedly contained mesterolone and methenolone, a type of steroid .Baumgardner won a unanimous decision over Linardatu on 16 July in Detroit, USA .After being informed of the latest doping test results, Baumgardner issued a statement denying all allegations of banned substances. He said: “The doping tests I took in mid-June and immediately after my fight with Linardatu came back clean. This means that a positive doping test could not have come only from the test I took just before the fight with Linares,” he claimed.”Mesterolone and methenolone are substances I have never heard of, never used, and never took a banned substance. It’s not only unethical, it’s completely contrary to my entire career. “Baumgardner, who has a career record of 14-1 (7 KOs), became the eighth female fighter in history to win the super featherweight titles of all four boxing organisations – the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO – in February 스포츠토토 this year.
