Defender Lee Han-beom (21), who played for FC Seoul in the K League 1, has moved to Europe by joining Mittwillan in the Danish Superliga (1st Division).
Mittwillan announced the signing on Aug. 28, saying they had signed Lee to a four-year contract.
The Seoul club also announced the move on its official channel, saying, “We sincerely hope that Lee Han-bum will grow and enjoy the European stage.”
Lee, who made his professional debut in 2021 with Seoul after graduating from Bogor, has been a competitive player in the league for three seasons, making 51 appearances. This season, he started 18 games and recorded one assist.
The 6-foot-2 forward is considered one of the best defensive prospects in the country and was named to the final roster for the Hangzhou Asian Games.
Mittwillan, who joined South Korean international striker Cho Kyu-sung last month, has helped Superiore to three wins in six games and a sixth-place finish (9 points).
With a UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) playoff second leg against Legia Warsaw (Poland) coming up next month, Cho Kyu-sung is out with a thigh injury.
“Lee is a young player who has made significant progress in the Korean top flight, especially over the past year,” said Mittwilan sporting director Sven Grabersen. “He is physically strong and has good athletic and contesting ability.”
Lee’s transfer fee is reported to be around 2 billion won.
On the club’s website, Lee said, “I am happy to come to Europe and to Mittwilan. After watching a few of their games, I was attracted to their aggressive and active style,” said Lee.
“The most important thing for me now is to make a difference on the pitch,” he continued, “and my goal is to be selected for the Korean national team and win trophies with the club.”
