In the round of 32 game between Masango and Sunlin Internet High School at the 51st Bonghwang Daejeon National High School Baseball Tournament 텍사스홀덤 at Mokdong Baseball Stadium in Seoul, South Korea, Masango scored 11 runs on 11 hits and five errors to defeat baseball’s prestigious Sunlin Internet High School. Masango got off to a fast start in the top of the first inning, scoring the first run on a walk and a hit followed by an error by the opposing second baseman, and then plating four runs on an outfield sacrifice fly by Park Hyun-woo and an RBI double by Kim Tae-hyun.
After scoring a run in the top of the first inning on a Kwon Young-min single to left, Sunlin Internet High School had a chance to tie the game in the bottom of the inning, but couldn’t capitalize. With runners on first and second with no outs and a favorable 3-ball 1-strike count, the fourth batter, Kim Sung-jae, hit a five-pitch low ball that was ruled a strike by the robot umpire. The runner on second thought it was a grounder and slowly made his way to third base, where he was tagged out. The next batter struck out, breaking up the offense.
Masango opened the scoring in the top of the third with a walk, then Shin Min-woo followed with a triple and scored on an error on the replay. In the fifth inning, they scored another run and seemed to have sealed the game. The prestigious school scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth and had two bases-loaded chances in the bottom of the sixth to try to keep the game alive, but could only add two runs and eventually succumbed to Masango, who scored three runs in the top of the eighth and one in the top of the ninth to drive in the winning run, 11-5. Masango, who secured a spot in the round of 16 on the day, will face Sejad, who defeated Suncheon Hyochungo BC, on September 1 at Mokdong Baseball Stadium.
